Women in Food Market Takeover

For the 6th year in a row, the women of Les Dames d’Escoffier International Birmingham, will be taking over the Market every Saturday for the month of September. Celebrating women in food, they will be hosting a weekly themed bake sale every Saturday at the Market, along with a dame hosting a chef demo.

If you are not familiar with Les Dames d’Escoffier, it is an organization of resident leaders and experts in the food and beverage industries, and who are edicated to growing, creating, promoting and sharing local food culture. Made up of a diverse female professionals in food, beverage, and hospitality, their mission is education, advocacy, mentoring and philanthropy. We are thrilled to have them come and join the Market this month.

The schedule for the Women in Food Month Market Takeover is as follows:

September 3rd: Tailgate Week. Spotlighting Dames/businesses known for BBQ, tailgate dishes and catering. Chef demo by Laura Zapalowski of Homewood Gourmet at 9am.

September 10th: Sweet Treats Week. Spotlighting Dames who are pastry chefs and bakers. Chef demo by Kristal Bryant of K & J’s Elegant Pastries at 9am

September 17th: Latin Food Week. Spotlighting Dames who specialize in Latin cuisine, also honoring Hispanic Heritage Month. Chef demo presented by Mi Pueblo on behalf of Dulce Rivera at 9am.

September 17th: Global Flavors Week. Spotlighting Dames who specialize world cuisine roots and specialties – Italian, Greek, Israeli, Lebanese, Mexican and Venezuelan. Chef demo presented by Fanoula Gulas of The Greek Kouzina with Sonthe Burge, at 9am.
