Pepper Place Winter Market

The Market at Pepper Place is kicking off its 20th Anniversary this year with the opening of the 2020 indoor Winter Market at Pepper Place, Saturday, January 18 from 7 a.m. ‐ Noon. The market is located in the space at 2805 2nd Avenue South, next to The Collective Salon and across from OvenBird Restaurant.

There’ll be a wide variety of items to choose from including fresh winter veggies like lettuces and greens, carrots and radishes, potatoes and sweet potatoes, squashes and microgreens, plus farm eggs, sheep cheese, breads and pastries and a selection of meats from Marble Creek Farmstead. Hot coffee, tea and a selection of breakfast items will be available every week.

Shoppers are invited to bring their reusable shopping bags and spend the morning at Pepper Place. There’s also plenty of free parking.

The indoor Winter Market at Pepper Place will feature 20 different Alabama growers, food producers and makers every week, so shoppers will find all the essentials in a warm and cozy spot. It will also serve as a functional art space, thanks to paintings and cyanotype prints loaned by renowned Alabama artist Arthur Price and print maker Holly Terrell.

The lush winter garden beds outside the market entrance have been installed thanks to Landscape Workshop. The market space itself has been provided thanks to support from Sloss Real Estate.

The Market welcomes SNAP/EBT customers and offers Double Up Food Bucks matching dollars as well. SNAP and Double Bucks tokens are available at the Market Info Table.

At the indoor Winter Market, there’ll be music, with plenty of seating inside and out so shoppers can relax and enjoy catching up with friends and neighbors. Dogs are welcome, as long as they remain outside the Market.
