One of the keystones of Pepper Place is Cantina Tortilla Grill, made-fresh-daily Mexican food in a laid back, fun atmosphere. And at the center of its flavor is Chef Jorge Castro who, if you’ve ever stopped in for a taco or a prickly pear margarita, was no doubt bouncing from kitchen to table making sure every guest was taken care of.

Recently, Chef Castro shared the story of his journey from Mexico to Birmingham, through the creation of Cantina and into community outreach in his adopted hometown to help children develop their service sector skills.
