Betolla Praised As One of Birmingham's Best Restaurants

James Lewis’s, Bettola, is praised for being one of Birmingham’s premier dining establishments.

Birmingham News reporter Eric Velasco applauds Chef James Lewis and his treatment of pork, which he calls “the king of meats.” Accolades are also given to individual dishes such as a roast squid, the anitpasta platter, and authentic Italian pizzas. Located in the Martin Biscuit Building at Pepper Place, the restaurant is great for a romantic date or a nice evening out with friends. Bettola is also known for it’s creative, handcrafted cocktails and extensive wine list.

Lewis is garnering the interest of those outside of Birmingham as well. In addition to being named Best New Chef in 2011 by Food and Wine Magazine, in 2012 he was a finalist for the James Beard Award as Best Chef: South. Lewis’s second restaurant, Vittoria, is scheduled to open in March right next door to Bettola.
